Open Arms Rescue

When our shelter contacts send us photos of the dogs stuck in their facilities at risk for euthanasia, we welcome them with open arms. About once a month, a transport of about 20-30 dogs from kill shelters are brought to Western New York to be fostered by our amazing foster families. That number doesn't even come close to the dogs and puppies that are surrendered to us locally. Either dirty, neglected, diseased, disabled, abused, or just plain unwanted, we take in these animals to rehabilitate them into adoptable pets.

Often times that means thousands of dollars to vet, house, and train them so they can get the second chance they deserve in life. Open Arms Rescue of WNY is a non-profit charity funded solely on donations from generous advocates or fundraising efforts. Our group is comprised of all non-paid volunteers that share a passion for helping animals.

 

We do not have a shelter - instead we are completely foster-based to give our rescues the best chance at rehabilitation by learning to live in a home atmosphere. Our rescue hub is located in Akron, NY but our foster homes are located all over Western New York.
